About Bluebonnet Data

Founded in 2018 as the first volunteer data team for Beto O’Rourke’s US Senate campaign, Bluebonnet Data is now a woman-led organization focused on building people power in the progressive movement. We do this by recruiting, training, and organizing the next generation of tech-savvy talent for campaigns, nonprofits, parties, and other organizations in the Democratic ecosystem. About the Program Manager:

Bluebonnet Data is currently hiring for the position of Program Manager, who will manage the recruitment and application process for fellows, the creation and delivery of training and resources, the development of ongoing fellowship programs, and the long-term development of Bluebonnet’s fellowship structure. The Program Manager will regularly interact with teams of fellows and help steer Bluebonnet’s fellowship development and strategy. This role will report to the Program Director.

Key Responsibilities

Fellow Recruitment and Application Process

Maintain and administer an efficient, equitable, and effective selection process for fellowship applicants.

 

Training Development and Delivery

Manage the content development and delivery of training sessions and resources for Bluebonnet fellows.

 

Fellowship Program Management

Oversee the execution and development of the data fellowship and the infrastructure that allows us to manage volunteers and partners.

 

Partnership Development

Foster partnerships with other organizations that can provide support to Bluebonnet, additional opportunities for fellows, or amplify our mission.

Campaign Recruitment

Recruit and filter through campaigns, nonprofits, and other organizations interested in working with Bluebonnet Data teams. 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Familiarity with political campaigns & software

  • Experience working with political campaigns or political organizations.

  • Experience with VAN.

    • Experience with other political software is a bonus.

    • Familiarity with public data sources (e.g. Census) is a bonus.

Strong organizational background

  • Demonstrated experience of successful leadership on teams or within organizations.

    • Direct experience in managing volunteers is a bonus.​

  • Demonstrated ability to take on complex and large-scope responsibilities.

    • Some background in working with data in Python, R, or similar (this position won’t be expected to do much in the way of coding, but familiarity with data and data tools will be useful).

    • An understanding of how to approach political problems from a data science perspective.

Classification, Salary, and Benefits:

Full-time salary ($60,000 to $70,000) commensurate with location, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. Benefits include a healthcare reimbursement plan; generous vacation and sick time; and flexible work hours. There will be opportunities for advancement in salary, benefits, and title pending success within the organization.

 

Bluebonnet Data is a remote organization, but team members currently work between Boston (MA), Austin (TX), Houston (TX), and Washington DC.
