About Bluebonnet Data

Founded in 2018 as the first volunteer data team for Beto O’Rourke’s US Senate campaign, Bluebonnet Data is now a woman-led organization focused on building people power in the progressive movement. We do this by recruiting, training, and organizing the next generation of tech-savvy talent for campaigns, nonprofits, parties, and other organizations in the Democratic ecosystem. About the Operations Manager:

Bluebonnet Data is looking for an Operations Manager who is excited about our mission and ready to help steer our organization through its next phase of growth. Supporting our Executive Director, the Operations Manager will ensure that all areas of Bluebonnet – programs, technical, and comms – are achieving their full potential while also creating processes, setting strategy, and laying the groundwork for the future of Bluebonnet. We are open to building the the role around the right person and renaming title to best reflect your responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

Political and Organizational Strategy

In conjunction with the Executive Director and Data Director, developing the short and long-term vision for Bluebonnet, setting growth goals, establishing methods to track them, and then making them happen. Taking the lead on special projects as determined in partnership with the ED.

Internal Operations

Ensuring all Bluebonnet Fellow trainings are run on time by taking the lead on scheduling, payroll, client billing, and other internal virtual office needs.

Fellow and Staff Experience

Optimizing the fellow experience by planning community-building and professional development events for fellows. Organizing quarterly retreats for staff and innovating on how we can improve our virtual workspace and employee experience.

Secondary Responsibilities

Cross-Organizational Support

Supporting our Executive Director on development and fundraising; supporting our Program staff on meeting all of our fellowship-related goals; and supporting our Communications Director on maintaining Bluebonnet's digital presence.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Basic familiarity with political or nonprofit organizations

  • Previous experience on political campaigns or nonprofit organizations in any capacity (manager, ops, finance, field, digital, etc.). Experience in multiple areas or roles is a plus.​


Strong communication skills

  • Talented writer and communicator.

  • Social media-savvy.

Strong teamwork skills

  • Demonstrated experience of successful leadership on teams or within organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to take on complex and large-scope responsibilities.

Demonstrated passion for progressive issues

  • Previous experience in the political space a plus.

Classification, Salary, and Benefits:

Full-time salary ($60,000 to $70,000) commensurate with location, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. Benefits include a healthcare reimbursement plan; generous vacation and sick time; and flexible work hours. There will be opportunities for advancement in salary, benefits, and title pending success within the organization.


Bluebonnet Data is a remote organization, but team members currently work between Boston (MA), Austin (TX), Houston (TX), and Washington DC.
